Accident on 580 Today: Dump Truck Rollover Crash on I-580 Near Damonte Ranch Parkway Injures One Driver

Accident on 580 Today:A serious crash involving two dump trucks caused major traffic disruptions on Interstate 580 near Damonte Ranch Parkway on Monday morning, leaving one driver hospitalized and temporarily shutting down portions of the highway.

According to authorities, the accident occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. on the southbound lanes of Interstate 580 near Damonte Ranch Parkway. Preliminary investigations by the Nevada Highway Patrol indicate that both dump trucks were traveling southbound when one of the vehicles allegedly made an unsafe lane change.

Troopers say the maneuver caused the truck to collide with the second dump truck, forcing it to lose control and overturn. The overturned vehicle spilled a large load of dirt across the northbound lanes of I-580, creating hazardous driving conditions and prompting the temporary closure of both northbound and southbound traffic lanes.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene to assist the injured driver and clear debris from the roadway. Officials confirmed that the driver of the overturned dump truck sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

The crash led to heavy traffic congestion during the morning commute as cleanup operations continued for several hours. Authorities worked to safely reopen the roadway, and all lanes have since resumed normal traffic flow.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision, while motorists are being reminded to drive cautiously and maintain safe lane-changing practices, especially when operating large commercial vehicles.
