Trevor Christopher Weigel, 25, of Churchville, Pennsylvania, was convicted in 2026 of first-degree murder along with multiple related charges, including burglary, attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, and evading arrest. Prosecutors presented evidence that the crime was premeditated following the end of a relationship, leading to a violent attack that ultimately claimed Battista’s life.

According to court testimony, Weigel entered the victim’s residence and later confronted her outside, where she attempted to escape and seek help. Despite intervention attempts, Battista suffered fatal injuries at the scene. Emergency responders and law enforcement were present shortly after the attack, but she could not be saved.
